2:07 pm - 7 Steps for World Class Gourmet Coffee

For a change of pace, a good cup of coffee would be nice. It does take some time and some energy to find a great cup of gourmet coffee these days. If you do know of a perfect coffee shop, you are one of the lucky ones. But, did you know that you can actually make a magnificent cup of coffee on your own from home?

Here are 7 simple steps that you can take to produce the perfect cup of coffee every time.

Start with level. One of the most essential aspects of coffee drinking is the quality of the coffee that you start off with. If you have a favorite flavor, then purchase whole beans in that flavor. If you can do this, it will enable you to get the freshest coffee around.

Grind away. Purchase a quality coffee grinder. Some of the best grinders available today are easy to use and a no brainer to clean up. By grinding your own coffee beans, youll be able to only grind what you need, meaning that you will have complete freshness in your coffee.

Store It Right And Tight. It is very important to store your coffee tightly. Air oxidizes the coffee and can trigger it to get bitter quickly. Metal canisters can also allow a metal taste to get into the coffee, making it taste bad.

The most ideal solution is for a plastic or ceramic air tight container for your coffee and coffee beans. Also, store it at room temperature because the moisture in the fridge or freezer can make it go bad faster.

Getting To The Coffee

The Maker. The coffee maker that you use is also fundamental. No matter what style that you go with, you can get a good cup of coffee out of it if you take the necessary steps to keeping it fresh.

For example, you should insure that the coffee maker is kept clean after each use. In fact, youll need to make sure that you detail clean it, with the aide of vinegar, every so often as well. Your preferences will ultimately determine which style of coffee maker you will use. Make sure that it uses a permanent filter in it.

Even In The Water. Even the water that you use is substantial to the grade of the coffee you will get from it. It is essential that you use water that is free from chlorine and minerals.

Often, using bottled water rather than tap water will enhance the quality of the coffee. Also, keep the water nice and hot. A good temperature for the water is about 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Come up with The Right Amount. It is also crucial for you to use the right quantity of coffee beans and coffee grounds in the maker. Too many and you will have a very strong cup of coffee and too few will make it to be too weak. Follow the directions provided by the coffee producer for the best cup of coffee.

Lastly and probably the most important aspect of getting a great cup of gourmet coffee is to make sure to enjoy your coffee when it is hot and fresh. Most restaurants are told to keep coffee for less than thirty minutes, but at home, the best coffee is the coffee that hasnt sat for more than twenty minutes.

11:19 am - Hectic Moring

What a goddamn commotion. Dude seriously, get a grip. My father will be the death of me. And you thought your parents were loud and obnoxious. My Dad's on the verge of a mental breakdown. I wish I had some anxiety meds I could slip in his porridge. Which sucks by the way. He's forcing us all to eat to random concoction which he claims to be porridge, but I beg to differ.

My sister is leaving today. And I feel sorry for her, I really do. She's had to deal with my Father, my Mother, AND my Aunt. Not a good combination I can assure you. Especially when they all come together. And my sister is going to be trapped under the same roof as my Mother for like a month and half. She's very, very brave.

From the time I got up to right this moment, my Dad has bitching about fucking every thought that comes into his head. Everyone else in my family is calm and relaxed. But he is driving us all crazy. SHUT THE FUCK UP MAN. My Dad has this problem, he really enjoys the sound of his voice, but to everybody else, his voice makes us want to stab something repeatedly with a screwdriver. He complains about the freaking most randomest shit. He walks around the place LOOKING for stuff to complain about.

I'm fairly used to this type of behaviour now. I'm listening to rock music right now through my headphones, but it's not loud enough to drown out the sound of yelling. Oh well. My Dad has like super vocal chords or something. He can talk and shout and bitch for days without losing his voice, or even getting a sore throat. But I lose my voice just by yelling at him telling him to shut the hell up.

Super vocal chords. Why didn't I get those genes?

5:43 pm - Greetings "everyday LJs"

I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Kansas-married with 2 children. I currently work @ a coffeehouse and love it but it doesn't bring in much $$ so I'm moving on. I have also returned to school to get my college degree (again, in hopes of earning more $$).

I love cooking, art, music, family activities, arts & crafts and (dare I say...) Desperate Housewives.

That's about it...

I made two pairs of earrings yesterday!!! (The start of my jewelry-making ... lol) They don't look too bad, but right up close if you were having a good squizz you could probably tell they were homemade though. Not too bad for a first effort. If I had a digital camera I would be able to take pics and show you guys, but alas, I don't. You will just have to put up with my descriptions.

Both earrings are on earhooks (not studs or anything), one has a simple white droplet looking stone on them and the other pair have two blue beads and some extra loops in the wire before joining up with the earhook. Funky. I need better tools. Coz I am low on cash right now I just got pliers and wire cutters from a cheap $2 shop. The pliers have tread which can damage the wire I'm working with, but I just wanted to see if I'd be able to do it or not before going to buy a FAB pair of pliers :P

So I'll make a few more things with what I have and we'll see how it goes!!

Hope everyone is having a great New Year so far, I'm as sick as a dog - Tummy bug. Hope I get better FAST. I am sick of not eating. Take care all!

11:15 pm - It's A New Year!

Hi Ppl,

Just out of general curiosity and interest, I thought I'd make a post asking what everyone's New Year Resolutions are? I, personally, really only have two:

1. I will not put up with boy-shit this year

2. I will eat a healthier diet

Yay!! So far, I have stuck to them :P How about you?

current mood: hopeful

Yeah, that's right: this place does seem to have been abandoned somewhat... At New Year's Eve, I'm in kind of a wiered place, I'm away from the city where I live, and truth be known, I don't want to return. But I have to return for atleast a couple of months, after which point I hope to make a move to a new city where I have just enough built in friends.
I live in Auckland, New Zealand, & I HAAAAATE Auckland! I Spent a couple of weeks in Wellington before coming down to Timaru to be with my family and that was soooo much nicer than Auckland: the town was buzzing, it wasn't full of cunts like Auckland, you can WALK everywhere... I love that place! But in the next week I have to get back up to Auckland and find a new home, get stuff out of storage & go back to my shitty Auckland life... Ahhhhh Roll on April so I can move!!!

12:30 am - Greetings

Hey ppl :)

I just came across this community and see that no one has posted for a while, so I thought I'd put in my $0.02. I have two dilemmas :

1. I have created a new LJ (after having an old one for YEARS and just getting sick of it) and have made it friends only, with a list of friends I mostly know IRL. As a result, I don't have a huge friends list and very little chance of making new LJ friends. Do you think posting stuff in a community would help? LOL

2. A boy I was *seeing* (not dating) a while back has recently kind of come back into my life now that I am single. On Christmas day he told me I was beautiful. Today he came to visit me at work and when a colleague asked if we were related (why? I have NO idea - don't worry, we don't look alike) he responded with "Not yet". Do you think he just wants to get into my pants? Or wants a second chance for a serious relationship?

Comment and let me know, babes!!

Today for everydaylj, its a coin toss... On one side of the coin I will either be spending eight hours in a car travelling to Wellington, New Zealand to play 20 minutes of music.. On the other side of the coin, I will be spending $25 to spend the night dancing to filthy music with heaps of scantily clad people... Both of these ideas appeal and I figure I can't lose with this night's entertainment...
I think I would feel more fullfilled by the first option, but I AM a sucker for dancing dirty...
